March 2011 letter to friends of YFC

Spring is almost here. I keep telling myself that. I can’t wait to see the first signs of spring, when everything is new again.

Back in January, YFC held its annual Excel Conference for high school students. This year marked the 25th year of having this conference to help churched teens grow in their understanding of who God is and their relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus.

Each year we offer an invitation to receive Christ. We do this because we know that there are youth that attend church regularly that do not have a personal relationship with God through Christ. We also give this invitation because of the teens our YFC staff and volunteers bring to Excel that come from families where church and God are not part of their world.

Below are responses from four teens that came to Excel with some of our staff and volunteers within the greater Capital District.

“I made many new friends this weekend, and I have thought more about God. I am not a very religious person, but I am thinking more about God and what He has done for me.”

“This weekend I learned that Jesus loves me and that if I give God my all, He will be there for me.”

“I learned that it is OK to surrender to God and give up everything to Him. Although I am not ready to do that now, I know I can at anytime.”

“When I first came to Excel, I’ll be honest; I wasn’t close to God at all. Friday night came as a slow start, but I got through it. Then on Saturday as the experience I was given deepened (through the speaker Jeff Dean and the seminars that we went to) I realized that I wanted to accept Him into my heart as well. Now I feel there is a heavy weight off my shoulders, and I feel awesome and I will worship and respect Jesus for what He has done for me. I am truly happier now that I have done this.”

I am sure you will agree after reading those comments that God is creating new life in these teens. It is exciting to see the signs of new life in the teens we minister to week in and week out.

Thank you for your on-going support of YFC through your prayers and financial gifts. We are seven months into our fiscal year, and donations are consistently falling 10%-11% short on the funds necessary to meet monthly bills. If you have not increased your giving in the past five years, would you consider an increase at this time?

In Christ,

Kevin Post

Ministry Development Coach
