Ministry around the Region

Hope. That is what we want to communicate to every teen in the Capital Region. Hope that comes through having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

I am blessed to serve with staff and volunteers who consistently bring Hope to teenagers. Whether on our Ropes Course or at a PaintBall Retreat or in East Dorset, VT at the Campus Life club to our plans in reaching teen moms and dads in Troy.

We have an incredible opportunity to provide an anti-bullying program called Point Break to high school students from Schenectady High School. We could have close to 200 teens go through this one day assembly on May 1 and 11. This will open the doors for us to connect in real ways with these teens and the school leaders.

Our Juvenile Justice Ministry is about to begin at Vanderheyden Hall in Troy after many months of preparation.

Reaching out to teens in all types of situations with the Good News throughout our area. I am so thankful to be part of this ministry.

Back in March I was invited to be part of the YFCamps summer planning and training retreat. Four of us from the Northeast joined about 20 other YFC staff who lead week long camps for middle school and high school students during the summer. I left feeling very proud to be part of this larger YFC team. God has brought a great group of young leaders into the movement of YFC in the US. As the oldest staff person in the room (that was the first time for me, believe it or not) I was humbled by how much I still can learn from those a little younger than me. I was told it was humbling for them to see staff my age still willing to learn and grow in ministry.

Please continue to pray for the ministry of YFC here in the Greater Capital District and throughout the world. God is using us to bring HOPE. Praise God for ever and ever.

(4/29) Wednesday – Pray for the YFC staff as we meet this morning for a staff meeting.

(4/30) Thursday – Pray for the YFC staff and other Christian leaders in Schenectady as we prepare for the anti-bullying program (Point Break) this afternoon.

(5/1) Friday – Pray for the teens attending Point Break today from Schenectady High School and those of us who are presenting the program.

(5/2) Saturday – Pray for Tim Hvizdak who will be presenting the Juvenile Justice Ministry at a men’s breakfast this morning at Brunswick Church.

(5/3) Sunday – Pray for the upcoming Step By Step fundraiser (Sat June 6). Pray that this is will be the year we reach our goal of 300 people attending and raising $90,000.

(5/4) Monday – Pray the meeting tonight at Redeeming Love Gospel Church for the Troy Teen Parents ministry.

(5/5) Tuesday – Pray for my appointment with a church youth leader in Kinderhook this morning.

(4/22)Wednesday – Pray for Barbara Robertson and Mary Schmitz who are our volunteer leaders for the middle school ministry in New Lebanon.

Pray for Ray Villegas and Andy Lightcap and the boys they meet with before school for breakfast and a Bible Study in Schenectady.

(4/23) Thursday – Pray for our ministry in Averill Park and for Denise Smith who is our volunteer leader for this specific ministry.

Pray for Sherri Hvizdak our part time staff member who leads the Greenville ministry.

Pray for Tom Beebe our part time staff member who leads the ministry in East Dorset, VT.

Pray for Cherie Vedder our part time staff member who leads the ministry in Niskayuna.

Pray for Rick Morgan and Clint Garrigan who are our volunteers who lead the high school ministry in New Lebanon.

Pray for Ruth Lightcap, Catie Paniccia, Fonda Maddalone and Ebony Watson who serve as part time staff for our Teen Parents ministry in Schenectady.

(4/24) Friday – Pray for Claire-Marie Hemmerling, Bob Wright and Elon Baker who are the volunteer leaders for our ministry in Cambridge.

Pray for Cherie Vedder who leads our ministry at Samuel’s on Friday and Saturday nights (our coffee shop in the Alplaus neighborhood of Niskayuna).

(4/25) Saturday – Pray for Steve Prettyman and Adam Catalano who serve in our adventure ministry called Shiloh’s Edge as most of their ministry takes place on Saturdays.

(4/26) Sunday – Pray for the finances for YFC. We need our financial support to increase so we do not have to reduce salaries or let staff go.

(4/27) Monday – Pray for Ray Villegas and Andy Lightcap who serve full time in Schenectady as they lead the out reach ministry (City Life) to high school and middle school students tonight. Pray also for Catie Paniccia who also serves with them in this ministry.

(4/28) Tuesday – Pray for Tim Hvizdak who is beginning the Juvenile Justice ministry for the Capital District and as he leads our ministry in Berne.

Pray for Ray Lightcap who works with the fathers in our Teen Parents ministry.

(4/15) Wednesday – Pray for the teens we minister to who have yet to invite Jesus into their lives.

(4/16) Thursday – Pray for our efforts to begin a Troy Teen Parents ministry.

(4/17) Friday – Pray for the finances for YFC. We need our financial support to increase so we do not have to reduce salaries or let staff go.

(4/18) Saturday – Pray for me and the ropes course facilitators as we lead a group of teens from East Dorset and Bennington, VT and Hoosick Falls and Cambridge, NY communities through the course today. Pray for the teens that they will understand and apply the lessons learned on the course to their life.

(4/19) Sunday – Pray for your church today and praise God for what He is doing through the group of believers that you meet with each week.

(4/20) Monday – Pray for our ministry in Averill Park and for Denise Smith who is our volunteer leader for this specific ministry.

(4/21) Tuesday – Pray for efforts being made my pastors and others for the WOW JAM events coming this summer to Troy, Albany and Schenectady.

(4/8) Wednesday – Pray for our staff this morning as we work on the clearing down tree branches and preparing the grounds at our ropes course this morning .

(4/9) Thursday – Pray for the adults (myself included) who will be going through training on the ropes course this afternoon.
